Post your Editorial Here

Friday, October 20th, 2006

Your must post your finished editorial here. As a reminder there parameters of your editorial are as follows:

You need to demonstrate your support for your chosen candidate by creating a one-page, single-spaced editorial in his (her?) support. This editorial should not only boast the virtues of your candidate, it should also speak to the relative weaknesses of the other candidates.

    1. Your editorial must have a specific, refutable and complex thesis.
    2. Your editorial must be posted in this section. You must also submit a paper copy to me.

I have invited some of my esteemed colleagues (Quim, McKee, Rugs, Herschberger, Pover, Bailey, etc.) to weigh in on the marketplace of ideas.

Catalan Election Resources

Friday, October 20th, 2006

The Autonomous Community of Catalonia holds an early parliamentary election on Wednesday, November 1st, 2006. An overview of the Catalan proportional representation electoral system is presented here. Though I can’t vouch for the site, it seems legitimate insofar as the site is maintained by Manuel Alvarez (who participated as an observer at the invitation of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico Elections Commission. I assume if a government invites one to oversee elections…).

The information presented in this space comes from results published by the Catalan Ministry of Governance and Public Administration.

My Hypocrisy

Friday, October 20th, 2006

“Do I contradict myself, very well then, I contradict myself. I am large I contain multitudes.”

I will allow Whitman to justify my posting of two useful Wikipedia links. Balog says that some 95% of Wikipedia’s data is reliable. My buddy once quipped that 71% of statistics are false 47% of the time. Either way, as I chomp my gums, here are two helpful Wikipedia links:
